Anastrozole is used by the FDA for the treatment of breast cancer, especially in postmenopausal women whose cancer is estrogen-sensitive. It inhibits aromatase, an enzyme responsible for converting androgens into estrogen. Modern applications also include its use in hormone-dependent breast cancer in men. PCT is not required, as it is a targeted cancer therapy. Anastrozole was developed in the early 1990s.
