Orlistat (best known by the brand names Xenical for prescription and alli for over-the-counter) is a
weight-loss medication that works by preventing your body from absorbing about
25% of the dietary fat you eat. It binds to enzymes
(lipases) in your gut, forcing the unabsorbed fat to pass through your system
and be excreted in bowel movements.
